I do like visiting Barcelona once in a while and eating tapas by the harbour, wandering around Barri Gótic, strolling down Las Ramblas, and enjoying the work of Gaudi. I prefer to visit Barcelona alone and just enjoy the atmosphere.
It is very strange how the three Spanish cities I have visited have three different kinds of people living there:-

In Barcelona the people are friendly and treat you as a tourist
In Valencia you are more left to yourself
In Madrid you are treated as a guest to the city and nothing is too much trouble
